This isn't a big event happening at a venue — it's the whole city rearranging itself around the racetrack. Street closures along Las Vegas Blvd start affecting traffic and walkability days before the first session, and hotel rates on the Strip roughly triple by Saturday compared to a normal November weekend.
What this means for hotel prices and traffic
Rates climb steadily through the week — around $650/night Thursday, $780 Friday, and $900 on race night Saturday — then drop back sharply once the checkered flag falls. If you're not here for the race, this is one of the few weekends where booking off-Strip or well in advance genuinely saves real money. Rideshare and taxi pickup near the Strip gets difficult during track hours; walking or the monorail is often faster for short Strip hops.
Tips if you're in Vegas that weekend
- Book as early as possible — rooms near the circuit go first, and prices only climb the closer you get to the date.
- Consider staying off-Strip — Downtown or near the airport sees far less disruption and far lower prices if you're not attending.
- Plan Strip crossings around the session schedule — some pedestrian bridges and roads close during practice, qualifying, and the race itself.
- Expect surge pricing on rideshare in and around the Strip corridor for the entire weekend, not just race night.
